We can do that for you.
By the 20th-22nd week of pregnancy, the baby is so large and the organs are so well developed that their structure and function can be assessed by this ultrasound examination. Facial features and facial expressions can often be visualised. Most malformations can be ruled out or recognised at this stage - this also applies to most heart defects. The sex of the child can also normally be recognised at this stage.
There are other signs of chromosomal disorders that this examination can provide information about. If these are not present, the risk of the unborn child being ill is reduced. Attention is also focussed on the amount of amniotic fluid, the correct position of the placenta and the overall development of the child.
In addition, a special blood flow measurement (Doppler examination) can be carried out on the mother to assess the condition of the placenta and thus any complications and risks for a later illness in the pregnancy or for a growth retardation of the child.
